NetherBound is game world set in a mixture of Dungeons & Dragons High Fantasy style world with a modern setting. If you know anything about things like D&D, Pathfinder, Tolkein then you can visualize the fantasy side of it. Magic, dragons, and monsters exist. Right along side modern cars, computers, and cellphones. Modern technology is mixed with magic in it's operation in alot of cases. Like high end luxury cars and the very best electronic equipment. The internet exists! It is a wireless network that is connected around the globe using leylines. As such, conventional and magical hacking are things in the world. In everyday life you can see pople walking around armed and armored, like in D&D games.
Basic races mainly used for play are as follows: Humans, Elves, Dwarves, and Orcs. Other races that are standard D&D races are also accepted. Sub-races (Drow and High Elf are examples of Elven sub-species) of each race are accepted and are a part of the gaming world. Half Breeds (Half-Orc, Half-Elf etc) can be played. Human sub-races have been tailor made for the gaming world.
To define the character's abilities use base D&D style classes. Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, Barbarian, Monk, Cleric, Rogue, Bard, Wizard, and Sorcerer. Variations and hybrid classes are accepted.
These are basic guidelines for getting a character started. Not hard rules.
Now. As far as hard rules go there are a few. You can not play vampires, lyncanthropes, any kind of undead, no demons or angels, no half-fiends or half-celestial, you can not play a god or demi-god. You can play mortals. If you want to play someone who holds high status in the game setting (high rank nobility, Guild Masters, etc) you must submit an in depth character pitch to me and can not enter play until approved by me. Other characters just need a basic pitch.
Though there are some cities named and the world has been created some content has been left intentionally vague so that players can add to the world. Anything like minor town, lesser city, local locations, and things like that can be made up on the fly to add to the free form feel of the game setting.
